Overeaters Anonymous is EVERYWHERE

Overeaters Anonymous was founded in 1960 in a living room in Los Angeles, CA. Today, Overeaters Anonymous has approximately 6,500 meetings in over 65 countries. Tradition 9 states "OA, as such, ought never be organized; but we may create service boards or committees directly responsible to those they serve. "

The World Service office has broken down 'the world' into 10 regions in order to better communicate the message of recover to those who still suffer. Each region has its own service board and there are then several intergroups within that region that help coordinate activities and recovery efforts in a more localized area. Central Florida is in Region 8.

The other regions are as follows:

• Region 1: AK, ID, MT, OR, WA, WY, AB, BC, NT, SK, YK
• Region 2: CA, HI, Northern NV, Mexico
• Region 3: AZ, CO, Southern NV, NM, OK, TX, UT
• Region 4: IL -except the Chicagoland area-, IA, KS, MO, ND, SD, MN, NT
• Region 5: IL, IN, KY, MI, OH, Southern Ontario, WI
• Region 6: Northeast US and Canada
• Region 7: DC, DE, MD, NJ, PA, VA, WV
• Region 8: Southeast US, Carribbean, Central and South America
• Region 9: Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Western Asia
• Region 10: Japan, Australia, New Zealand

We have linked to the websites of these regions here. Our purpose in doing so is multi-faceted. We want OA members in the Central Florida area, who are moving or visiting other areas to be able to find OA in those areas. Also, there is an enormous amount of information contained in each local area's website that can aid in the recovery of OA'ers everywhere.
