The Green Dot Experience

     My name is B*** and I'm a compulsive eater in recovery and grateful.

     In July, I went to Fort Lauderdale as a Central Florida Region Rep. When I got to the hotel and signed in, I became a green dot.

     Bealls' Outlet has green dots. Walmart has credit cards where you can use a green dot to add money to the card. My bank has green dots. Here I am and I'm a green dot.

     Well, with OA, it means I'm new at this and I need a mentor for my first weekend of meetings. I sat with my people who were not green dots so I was well mentored.

     This weekend, the meetings didn't have much business. We need to elect a new secretary and a new co-chair. There were nominations from the floor. They were accepted and need to be voted on in November in Cocoa Beach.

     There are committees and you don't get to rest, you are assigned to a committee. Mine was "Ways and Means". So I didn't get to just sit and listen. I needed to participate.

     The meetings were run very efficiently. I had never sat in on a business meeting like this before. I realized that no matter what your status in life, you are accepted because we have a common bond. FOOD.
