"Always to extend the hand and heart of OA to all who share my compulsion; for this I am responsible.”
-OA Responsiblity Pledge
Overeaters Anonymous is a fellowship that finds its basis in service. Whatever an OA member can do to help the compulsive eater who still suffers, we will do because that is the key to recovery. It is only by giving it away that we get to keep it.
Do you remember where YOU were when you first learned about OA? Was it in a newspaper article? Did a friend share it with you? Did you see it listed in a newspaper? Did you read a flyer on a bulletin board? Do you remember the hope you felt when you wondered, "Could this be for me?" As someone in recovery from compulsive eating by using the 12 Steps and Traditions of Overeaters Anonymous, you have an opportunity to give that gift to a fellow compulsive eater.
Here are two files that you can download to help carry the message. One is a flyer with tear-offs that you can post on bulletin boards wherever you are allowed. The other is a flyer that can be cut into 4 pieces and left on tables in doctor's offices, and at other places where people are looking for something to read.
If you have any thoughts about how else we can help to carry the message to the compulsive eater who still suffers, don't hesitate to write to The Public Information Committee!
